A Baltimore judge is expected to rule on whether Adnan Syed’s life sentence should be reduced Wednesday afternoon after a long-winded hearing.

A Maryland state court judge is set to decide whether Adnan Syed will remain free despite his conviction for the 1999 murder of his high school ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.

Adnan Syed remains a convicted murderer and out of prison with his future in limbo after a judge heard testimony Wednesday without a ruling from the bench on his request to reduce his sentence to time served.

Baltimore Circuit Judge Jennifer Schiffer is slated to hear arguments Wednesday over Syed’s sentence after the “Serial” podcast subject requested in December to have it reduced under the Juvenile Restoration Act.
