Just in time for Christmas, one lucky Powerball player could win $1.7 billion before taxes in tonight's lottery drawing.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. According to USA TODAY, the “Power Play” option costs an extra $1 per play and can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. The “Double Play” option is also an additional $1 per play. Meaning that a single ticket could cost a total of $4 if both “Power Play” and “Double Play” are selected.
Power Play: For an added $1 per play, you can win $2 million by matching five white balls or increase non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X. If the jackpot is $150 million or lower, a 10X multiplier is included. Select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball.
