Deputies say a man took 3 cases of beer from the store and ran out the back door to a maroon Dodge pickup waiting down the street on Reins Road.

The Sumiton Police Department is investigating a swatting call that occurred Tuesday afternoon. According to public information officer Henry Irby with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, its SWAT team and other specialized units responded to the 100 block of Glen Brook Road around 1:08 p.

A large law enforcement presence in Sumiton today was found to have originated from a prank call. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported the SWAT team and other first responders arrived on Glen Brook Road just after 1 p.

Two men got out of the truck and walked into the Country Mart. According to the sheriff's office the men stole several bottles of liquor.
