Remants of last weekend’s historic winter storm are still on the streets. People in Kansas City, Kansas complain to FOX4 there’s not enough being done to clear the way. The city’s mayor says the effects of that weather event have been overwhelming.

Kansas City International Airport, for example, has an 85% chance of snowfall exceeding .1 of an inch, according to data from the weather service. The probability of higher snowfall totals drops rapidly, with only a 50% chance of snowfall exceeding 1 inch. The chance of 2 inches or more of snow is less than 10%.

United Way of Greater Kansas City operates the 24/7, live call center to connect residents with information and local resources such as where to find warming shelters.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

On Friday at 12:56 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning valid from Saturday 6 p.m. until Monday 3 a.m. The warning is for Atchison, Doniphan, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Johnson,

Essential items like milk, eggs and bread were hard to find before and during the storm. Stores are finally able to restock after the storm rush.

Kansas City, Mo., received nearly a foot of snow over in a single day, forcing road and air traffic to come to a halt. NBC News' Maggie Vespa reports why officials are saying it will take a few days to clean out the snow.

Kansas City will be under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday as a major winter storm will make travel nearly impossible.
