Lava fountains from the north vent have reached 300 to 400 feet, feeding multiple lava streams onto the crater floor between 8:22 and 9:05 p.m. Scientists reported that as of 8:45 p.m., less than 10% of the crater was covered with new lava flows.

According to USGS, the 10th episode of Kilauea ended at 9:18 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, just after 13 hours of fountaining.

After an eight-day hiatus, Kilauea has begun its tenth eruptive episode just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Since Dec. 23, Kilauea has been entertaining tourists and locals with a series of fountains from the summit caldera of Halemaumau crater.
