Mayor Whitmire and Metro leaders launch MetroNow initiative to tackle crime, sanitation, and boost confidence in Houston’s transit system

According to the office of Mayor Whitmire, METRO leaders are unveiling a plan to tackle crime. The initiative, called METRONow, is coming at a time when Houston leaders say the public's confidence in the city's public transportation system is low.

The mayor and METRO transit leaders spoke about the plan to increase users, safety and more. They hope to improve Houston's public transit.

The regional transit authority’s flagship initiative has changed from “METRONext” to “METRONow.” According to observers, it’s mostly a rebrand of existing priorities.
