Several residents in Upper Makefield Township said they can smell and taste gasoline in their well water and have been using bottled water to cook with and drink.

Baicker and Kat La Hart, another neighborhood resident and member of the task force, each said independent testing of their households’ water supply found MTBE, a gasoline additive, in the water at levels below the statewide health standard for drinking water. They said the contamination is a concern for impacted households in the neighborhood.

Residents say a jet fuel pipeline that leaked into their Upper Makefield Township, Pennsylvania, neighborhood and contaminated their water should be shut down as the investigation continues.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, Pa. - A Bucks County community is outraged and demanding answers after learning about a pipeline leaking jet fuel. Upper Makefield Township officials say even some of the drinking water has been contaminated.

Officials said jet fuel was being transported through the pipeline when it began leaking and tainted the water in wells in the Mount Eyre neighborhood.
